The heroes arrive in Mossdeep City, but learn the Gym Leader Ash wants to battle is at the Mossdeep Research Center. Once they arrive there, the heroes meet up with Tate and Liza, who just had a battle. Learning these two are duo of Gym Leaders, Ash is surprised he has to fight them in a Double Battle. While spending some more time at the space center, Max and Tate go to a space shuttle, only to encounter Team Rocket, who wants to steal the space shuttle.

Jimmy and Claire finally have a date of sorts, listening to Jimmy's song being played on the radio. The date, however, is anything but smooth, interrupted by faulty radios and annoying neighbours Rab and Jake, who discover that Jimmy has managed to get his hands on some premium quality dope. As Tex steps up his charm offensive on Janet, she agrees to go for a drive with him.

Also, Jack flashes back at 12 years old, to find himself on the playground in an altercation with a bully, who ultimately beats him up, and later learns a life lesson from his father.

Jonathan's wallet is stolen by a super-speed thief, Bart Allen, who is faster then Clark. Bart comes to the farm and becomes friends with Clark, but Bart returns to crime when he sees an ancient manuscript that Lex has. As Clark soon realizes, the manuscript holds a map to one of the kryptonian crystals and he must go up against Bart to recover it.

Meanwhile, Kady catches Claire sneaking back into her bedroom after hours and threatens to tell their parents, unless Claire does some favors for her.
