He wants to meet his wife the next day for their tenth wedding aniversary, but he is afraide that he wont make the five hour drive home so he and his wife agree that he should stay at a hotel. Douglas tried to get sleep that night, but the flu was so overbearing tha he couldn't get rest. Douglas then went downstairs to the hotel manager to ask for directions to a local drug store. After the manager gives the directions, a little while later Douglas comes in with a wet and d muddy rain coat and a gift bag. He tells the hotel manager to keep the gift bag in the hotel safe, so the manager does so. After the wife and hotel manager cannot reach Douglas, the mager goes into his room to see what happened and the manager didn't see a thing - not Douglas, not even drippy mud.
