musical guest: Fred Hammond The new Reverend at Nikki's church appoints her the new choir director for an upcoming concert. Nikki also thinks that Kim should join the choir as a soloist. But when Kim backs out on an important rehearsal, Nikki kicks her out of the choir and decides that she'll take over as the new soloist. (But she can't sing.) Later, Reverend Wright has been spending a lot of time with Nikki, which leads Nikki to believe that the Reverend is interested in her. When he shows up the next day, he announces to Nikki (who believes he's about to propose to her) that he wants Kim to rejoin the choir for the concert. Relieved, Nikki lets Kim back in the choir.
Hakeem gets his first apartment with roommate Jerome. Moesha and Niecy stop by and they all reminisce on the times they've spent together from their teen years to adulthood, including Hakeem's frequent visits to the Mitchells' home, Kim's obsession for him, and his romantic relationship with best friend/ex-girlfriend Moesha.

When everyone goes to an art gallery, Joan is amazed to find a man who meets all of her qualifications, but her friends later warn her that she may have frightened him with her aggressiveness. At the same gallery, Toni runs into an ex-flame who is tending bar; and William has another meeting with possibly unstable cop Yvonne and considers giving her a try. Lynn, meanwhile, becomes obsessed with a painting of a red triangle.
Larry's ex-wife asks him for his permission to take their son to Canada, where she is moving. They argue over why can't one of them move closer to the other so their son can grow with his two parents around. Jamie asks Larry why can't they get back together and Larry says because she's not Ally. They kiss. Larry tells Ally, who overreacts about it until he explains her that Jamie is and will only be the mother of his son. They make up. Meanwhile, Ling's ex-fiancee comes to ask her if they still have a chance, but Ling doesn't want to destroy her girlfriend's happiness. Melanie is fired from her job for scaring the children and John takes it to court.
