Sam destroys his remaining records of the titanium deposit. Winston continues to secretly meet with the two strangers. Unable to bring the girls back to the island, Winston takes the two strangers to ORCA where they tell Neri and Mera that they have come to take them back to the Ocean Planet, their home. Vanessa helps Mick with his reading and defends him when Commander Byrne accuses him of slacking off.

Kate comes out of hospital with baby Sarah. The atmosphere is extremely sullen and Nick neglects his work, which doesn't go down well with Blaketon. Nick receives reports of prowlers hanging around at night, but he doesn't do anything about it. The next day Mr Copeland complains to Blaketon about Nick's inefficiency and about a tank of petrol he has had stolen. Blaketon is on the warpath and unaware of Kate's condition, goes round to the police house and tears a strip off Nick. Kate realises she can't keep it a secret any longer so Nick finally tells Phil the bad news. Blaketon feels awful for what he said and goes back to apologise. Kate is finding it difficult to cope and asks Nick to take her for a picnic in the hills. But this has disastrous repercussions when she goes down with pneumonia, which immediately worsens her condition. Emotions are running high, and by the time Kate dies everything comes to a head. In the course of giving Simon, the Monster hunter, a routine nightmare, Ickis gets sucked into Simon's brain. Ickis can see through Simon's eyes and discovers that he can control Simon's actions. Ickis takes Simon on a rampage through the city streets. Word spreads of this crazy man and he is finally detained by doctors. Oblina and Krumm must get Ickis out of Simon's brain before the cat scan reveals his existence.

Krumm, Ickis, and Oblina are sent on a scare mission in a museum. They come upon an old Egyptian mummy. Ickis thinks up a creative scare and places Krumm's eyes in the mummy's head. The museum curator thinks the mummy has come to life and puts it under heavy security. The scare was successful. The only problem is that Krumm's eyes are now stuck in the mummy. Our heroes must remove Krumm's eyes without getting caught. This episode features a romantic moment when Krumm is reunited with his eyes.

Lindsay is nominated for Homecoming Queen, and so is Maria, even though she really doesn't want it, but she soon becomes competitive. Mr. B asks Rachel to help tutor star football player Todd Green to keep him eligible. She finds that Todd can grasp things she tells him very well, but he has great difficulty reading. An attraction develops between Todd and Rachel. Meanwhile, the Homecoming Queen campaign has gotten heated with Ryan and Tommy working for Lindsay and R.J. becoming Maria's manager. The campaign gets dirty when Maria is accused of being a Valley High ""traitor."" Todd fails to complete the test he's been studying for. Rachel tells Mr. B. about Todd's problems. The principal suspects Todd might have a form of dyslexia. Todd is mad at Rachel at first but things get straightened out and Todd passes a verbal makeup test. Lindsay and Maria stop the dirty campaigning and vow that whoever wins will give the crown to the other girl. Who wins? Rachel, as a write-in!
