Jeff sees other women in an attempt to forget Fallon, but remains obsessed with his ex-wife. Dismissing her attorneys and deciding to represent herself, Alexis takes the stand and testifies she was not wearing the cape that incriminated her. The prosecution, however, proves it had been delivered to her and was found stuffed in a trash bin behind her building. The verdict is at last delivered: Alexis is found guilty.

Smudge, a Widget who has been given the job of guarding the reactor, becomes addicted to gambling with a showman called Melbrag at the ceremony. Melbrag tricks Smudge into gambling away some Coridite, and he flees with the sample, intending to sell it to Skeletor. When He-Man pursues Melbrag, he only tempts him even further, as Melbrag plans to capture He-Man, and deliver him to Skeletor for an even bigger payment!

Lotor's newest Robeast generates an enormous cloud of fire and heat, vaporizing all the water around the Castle of Lions, including the entire moat. The Voltron Force is interrupted from their martial-arts training, and head off to battle. Princess Allura can't seem to activate the Blue Lion. Her father's ghost reveals the secret of the Lions: They are powered by the elements of Arus. Without any water, the Princess has no way of operating the Blue Lion, and the team can't form Voltron.

Orko wants to impress Dree Elle with a special birthday present, so he goes to Rose Mountain in search of the legendary Bitter Rose, which was formed by the tears of a grieving goddess. However, when he picks the rose it causes an avalanche, which almost destroys the village of the Kex below- and also draws the attention of Skeletor, who sends Beast Man and Trap Jaw to steal the rose for him.

Lotor sets up his command base on a desert planet, planning to enslave the peaceful Sand People and turn them into Robeasts. A local researcher, Professor Sawa, realizes what's happening and calls in the Voltron Force. Princess Allura meets with the Sand People, and sees that they are innocent and childlike. She gives one her bracelet as a present. But when Lotor attacks with his new Robeast, Allura recognizes the bracelet on the monster's arm.
