Dr Boynton is so driven by his work as a robot engineer thst he neglects his promise to spend time with his son Toby at an amusement park. As Toby leaves the park, he is caught in a traffic collision. Before dying, Toby has his father promise him to make the new robot in his image and treat it like a son. Overcome with grief, Boynton completes the project and brings "Toby" to life. Unknown to Dr Boynton, a shady criminal called Skunk stole the plans for "Toby" and plans to make a robot of his own with a new circuit known as the Omega Factor.

Since Eliza Jane doesn't want to see Almanzo and Laura break up, she decides to leave and tells Almanzo to chase after Laura to tell her that she could teach in Walnut Grove. Laura and Almanzo then get married at the blind school.

Looking for a new star, carnival owner Diane Benson offers Bo the job. While Diane seduces a lovestruck Bo with her charms; Luke, Daisy and Uncle Jesse suspect something is amiss. Their fears are confirmed when an insurance investigator reveals that the earlier stunt show mishap—-along with several others—-was no accident. Luke tries to convince Bo of his findings, but Bo does not listen. This leads to a huge fight that results in Bo leaving the Duke farm, threatening further repercussions on the Duke family. Meanwhile, Boss Hogg can foreclose on the "Carnival of Thrills" if Diane can't pay back a loan she makes for use of the Hazzard County fairgrounds. Furthermore, Rosco manages to impound the General Lee for a taillight he busted; and, in an attempt to keep Bo from taking the stunt job, Luke allows the impounding to happen.

Season 6, Episode 1
A father finds his son dead, having taken a drug overdose. Knowing this will affect his wife he decides to report it as an accidental drowning. Quincy's friend Volmer is the local coroner and politics lead to him not being able to autopsy the boy. He asks Quincy to help him out. If that was not enough he also has to deal with a textile mill boss who refuses to fix irregularities at work and when an accident happens wants to hide the truth.
