Season 1, Episode 1
Joan Clayton, a successful attorney, prepares to celebrate her 29th birthday (although she claims to be 26 to make her achievements seem more impressive). Toni, Joan's best friend, begins dating Charles, a venture capitalist with a propensity for toe-sucking who dated Joan until he freaked out at the prospect of marriage. Toni tries to hide the truth, but their friend Lynn forces her to confess to Joan. Joan claims she has no problem with Toni bringing Charles to her birthday party; but then brings her friend and colleague, William, to try to make him jealous. Joan is furious to learn that Charles is now interested in settling down, and the evening comes to a screeching halt. Meanwhile, Toni constantly clashes with Maya, Joan's sassy assistant.

Midsomer Murders
Season 4, Episode 1
The Inkpen family has bought back its ancestral home, Inkpen Manor at Midsomer Deverell, and they plan to turn a village Memorial Garden on their land into a tea shop. This causes consternation in the village, and the Bennetts (who previously owned the manor and founded the Memorial Garden) lead the opposition. Then young Fliss Inkpen-Thomas is found dead in the Memorial Garden with her skull smashed in, and a few days later her mother Elspeth dies of poisoning, with the possibility of suicide firmly denied by her family and friends. Barnaby investigates the deaths and finds older and more deep-seated motives for murder lurking in another ancient family.

Laura joins the Women's Auxilary to be a part of the town's women. Meredith and Karen try to stop her, but she won't. The newly elected president - Vicki Drury, wife of Dave, is opposed to Heather and her ""minions"" - Phrani and the like, but Laura joins anyway. Angus discovers he is too predictable and changes his timetable, causing Kevin to get into all sorts of troubles. Max and Carmen go on a stakeout but it ends up turning into a night of love.

Jackie must gather up all 12 magical talismans that the Dark Hand had started retrieving before the Dark Hand does.

When she found out that Tommy is a werewolf, she began to like Tommy. She was Medusa, a woman to turns people who crosses her into stone, and when she realizes that Tommy likes Lori, Medusa goes after her. Also Tommy finds Merton hugging Lori and gets mad. When Medusa is about to turn Tommy into stone Merton jumps in the way and is now a statue.

The Voodoo Doctor wants Merton to be his apprentice and to teach him everything about Voodoo, and Merton accepted the deal. He was given the order not to tell anybody about the secret, and when he told Tommy, and Male Nurse St. Jacques found out, he wants to kill Tommy using Merton and dismissing Merton from the apprenticeship to him.
