Rather than clean out the existing boat ramp, Red creates a way to fling a boat over the scrap and land it in the lake. The men have an adventure saving a Lodge rowboat in a flood. Red uses streetcar technology to devise a safe way to cut the grass with an electric lawnmower. Red also demonstrates a way to prevent your wife from stealing the remote and makes an outdoor bathroom out of empty beer cases. When Van announces to the family that he's quitting school to tryout for Arena football, the family gets excited that this may be his chance to play professionally. However, a protective Reba lets Van know she thinks quitting school is a huge mistake. A nervous Van ends up not going to the tryout, which when Reba finds out she tries to get him a second chance. Meanwhile, Cheyenne passes her Dentistry test with a B+.

Bosco and Monroe investigate a suspicious man who they find bleeding in an alleyway as they respond to an anonymous caller's claim that someone is shouting for help in the area. They become more and more skeptical when his story continues to change and they find a blood trail. When it is determined that the amount of blood would have been more than enough blood loss to kill a person, Bosco suspects that the man murdered someone and was bleeding because the victim tried to fight back.

On their way through, they come across a Torkoal being attacked by several Steel Pokémon. After using Pikachu to scare the Pokémon away, the Fire-type hears a noise, also scaring it off. Later, having reunited with Torkoal, Ash and friends become determined to help Torkoal defeat the Steelix that lords over the valley. Will they succeed in cutting through the valley unharmed or will the angry Steel-type block their way?

Meanwhile, Joey dates Phoebe's friend but annoys her with his territorial eating habits. Also Rachel picks out an outfit for Ross to wear on a date but due to a mix up he ends up in an awkward position.
