Drew becomes obsessed with getting the city to repair a pothole in front of his house. He supports a ballot measure allocating money for street repairs. When the nearest polling place suffers a fire just before the election, Drew volunteers his house as a replacement. Lewis and Oswald give people beer in exchange for a vote for the measure. Drew arrives home from work to find everyone partying. Aware that he could get in hot water for serving alcohol at a polling place, he tries to break up the gathering. A college student puts out his cigarette in the ballot box and causes the ballots to catch on fire. Oswald and Lewis distract the polling inspector to keep him out while Drew and Kate have everyone re-vote to replace the damaged ballots. The minister suspects that Dylan is afraid to commit to a woman because of guilt over Toni's death. Dylan and Kelly plan to watch the sunset together. They learn from the news that Matt saved his client, so Kelly decides to go home and congratulate him. Gina catches Dylan and Kelly hugging and accuses them of fooling around. Fez spends the night girl chatting to Jackie and Laurie, much to Kelso's chagrin while Hyde attempts drop him in it. Red becomes addicted to soaps.

Dick crashes the car into a tree and calls an insurance company to cover it, but the salesman informs him that in order to be covered, he needed to have taken out insurance before the crash. Instead, the salesman manages to convince Harry to buy insurance, but then ignores all of Harry's attempts to call him. Dick, meanwhile, is pleasantly surprised when he discovers just how much more advanced his rental car is than the old Rambler, and so sells the latter for scrap; however, the Solomons soon begin to miss it.

Kirsten and Charlie are having difficulty with the regimen associated with trying to get pregnant. His effort to pay for vitro fertilization, leads to him getting a second job and he doesn't have time to tutor Myra anymore. Claudia helps tutor Myra and receives some helpful advice from her about her situation with Cameron and Alexa. Bailey decides to pay Sarah a visit in New York with Griffin and Will, but doesn't get very far. Evan and Julia finally sleep together. Daphne lies to Charlie about finding a new job.
