After the employees express the need for a medical plan and an issue is scuttled by a flood at the print shop, Khadijah finally decides to ""sell her soul"" by allowing Majestic to buy a 25 percent share. Khadijah does not take kindly to Jeremy's efforts to make himself the hero of the employees. When he fails to come through with the promised health plan, he tries to make Khadijah break the news to the staff. She goes to the head of the corporation and threatens to quit if the health plan is not granted. Jeremy lashes out at her for usurping his authority, so she challenges him to stay for the duration of one of the staff's all-night work sessions. He grows to realize how much work is put into the magazine. Regine falls into a deep funk as the result

Bailey asks Julia not to date his friend, but she decides to date him anyway. Later she realizes how much they don't have in common. Bailey is looking for a new place and finds one cheap with a good roommate, Callie, who Sarah really doesn't like, but Bailey tells her not to worry. Claudia has to find a plumber to fix the pipes and gets yelled at because it costs 3,000 dollars, but she says she's 13 and that was not her job.

David refuses to tell his father that he has dropped out of school, so Donna breaks the news to Mel. Mel issues David an ultimatum: he must finish college or lose all financial support. Brandon and Mark hire a confident young woman as their news anchor. She suffers a panic attack just before the first broadcast. Mark and Brandon try to calm her with a drink, and she ends up getting plastered. Kenny declares his love for Valerie.
