Night has fallen and the crisis is no closer to being resolved. Gee demands that Barnfather make a decision. Frank continues to trying to adjust. Frank insists on going to the hostage scene. The identity of the hostage-taker is made when he demands that his pig be brought to the school. When the pig doesn't arrive in time, he sets a fire and seriously wounds a hostage (who later dies) and then becomes badly burned. Brodie takes issue with Munch's treatment of Pembleton. The paperwork gets completed and the hostage-taker is formally charged. Frank makes a decision regarding his recovery.

The new prototype is given to Ex-CIA operative Thomas Cole (Jeff Kaake) and his team: Technician Frankie Waters (Joe Nipote) and systems programmer Dr. Allie Farrow (Dawn Stern). After the death of her partner, police officer Cameron Westlake (Heather Medway) joins the Viper team. The team then concentrates on taking Dekker, a rogue trucker who has been terrorizing the city.

Pam struggles to pull it off, but in the end she has to rely on Gina to win the account.

They get into an argument just before taking the test, and purposely fail by writing the most inflammatory responses possible. Rev. Taylor finally agrees to let them re-take the test, but only after his wife threatens to make him sleep in the bathtub. Max tries to prove that she can have any man she wants by throwing herself at a young waiter. He continually turns her down, but relents after she takes the stage and gives an embarrassing rendition of ""All by Myself."" When he asks her out, Max says, ""I don't date desperate men."" Both Mark and Jesse are confined to Mark's home while Steve and Amanda investigate the drug company that manufactured the virus, in the hopes of discovering an antidote before Jesse runs out of time.
