Two Bolkins (sheep-like beings from Third Earth) unleash the ghost of Grune the Destroyer, a renegade Thundercat who once terrorised Third Earth and now turns his attention to the Thundercats.
Spike is severely hurt during a battle. His mind is placed into Sparkplug's recent creation, Autobot X, until his body can be saved by an operation. But the Autobot X body was unstable to begin with and Spike soon ends up betraying his friends.
Cobra kidnaps a French scientist named Dr. Emil Mettier, and Zartan replaces him before he arrives at the World Wide Defense Center to complete their database on terrorism. Spirit is suspicious of the doctor, and when he investigates, he is confronted, then captured by Storm Shadow. Freedom escapes, and leads Lady Jaye, Recondo, Doc, Gung-Ho and Stalker back to the Defense Center, only to discover that Zartan has replaced the doctor and has set up a bomb. While the Joes search for the bomb, Gung-Ho locks Zartan in a prison cell in plain view of Zartan's countdown watch, which unbeknownst to Zartan, Gung-Ho has set it two minutes ahead. Zartan is fooled, and reveals the location in time for the bomb to be disarmed. Zartan escapes, and Spirit and the real Dr. Mettier are saved from death by laughing gas by Storm Shadow. Cobra launches one more futile attack, the Joes counter it, and all's right with the world.
After some chicanery by Mr. Spacely, the Jetsons appear on a game show called "Family Fallout" (based on Family Feud), facing off against the Spacelys. The Jetsons win a new Foodarackacycle in the end, while the shocked and dismayed Spacelys receive a lifetime supply of Cogswells Cogs.

As Hoppo writes back to the Wuzzles about the great success she's having, her friends decide to visit. Soon after, the Wuzzles finally realize that Hoppo was a big flop and she realizes that her friends are much more important.

King Gregor then buys the statues for Princess Calla. So it's up to Gruffi, Grammi and Cavin to turn the others back to normal. Can they do it, or will Gruffi and Grammi's arguing get in the way?
