The trip begins on the caldera of Mount Bromo - an active, yet serene volcano in the middle of the island of Java. With their l`ocal friend Oka, they continue to the slums of Jakarta, meeting with a young boy and his family, and participating in daily activities to learn of the many hardships facing the locals. Heading to the island paradise of Bali, they take part in an explosive, traditional bull race. Scott gets “dirty” while Oka loses his chariot altogether. The trip winds down when they meet a Balinesian Prince, and join his party as guests of honour.

Kendall and Katie attempt to find their mom a perfect date, during which Kendall forgets to ask Jo to the dance, instead asking her to do preparations for the dance. The Jennifers all take Carlos under different personas after rejecting all the guys who asked them including Carlos (Carlos being the coolest, but still out of their league) and a nerdy kid. Logan tries to find the courage to ask Camille, but keeps failing miserably. James in his attempts to help out Logan accidentally asks out numerous girls including Rachael.

She is interrupted by a phone call from Mr. Ridgemount, asking Lo to his office. He reveals that he should be nicer to his children, so he returns Mrs. Ridgemount's credit card, lets George have a golf cart (which he later crashes) and allowing Lo out of her hotel duties and back in the penthouse. Meanwhile, the groms are annoyed that there are no waves. They soon discover that they must take up new hobbies to fill in their spare time. Reef decides to take up reading, Broseph tries to play table tennis and Fin attempts knitting. When Bummer learns of the event, he is thrilled at first, but is then shocked that no waves means no guests and could go bankrupt.
