Season 1, Episode 1
It's the start of the war between the Systems Commonwealth and the Nietzschean fleets. Captain Dylan Hunt and his ship the Andromeda Ascendant try to flee the first Nietzschean attack to warn the Commonwealth. In his attempt to escape, the Andromeda and Captain Hunt are caught in the event horizon of a black hole and frozen in time for 300 years. The crew of the Eureka Maru with Captain Beka Valentine try to salvage the Andromeda to sell for a Nightsider's ransom. After the Andromeda is pulled free, Hunt is unfrozen and forced to defend his ship against the salvagers and the Nietzschean mercenaries lead by Tyr Anasazi.

Hakeem and Niecy suspect that Moesha is creeping around with Jamal, her study partner. After going out on a date with Jamal, Moesha later stays the night with Jamal; leading to major suspicion between the two. Also, Moesha receives gifts from Q and a video-message from Khalib stating that he misses her and wants to keep in touch with her. Meanwhile, Dorian turns Frank's kitchen into a barbershop.

Under the watchful eye of Professor Oglevee, Nikki, Stevie and T team up for an academic tournament. The lackluster squad gets a boost when K.B., whose studies revolve around genetics, joins them. But once K.B. meets Kim, his attention begins to wander. Forced by Nikki to choose between the team and Kim, he chooses Kim, a move that upsets Stanley, who wagered two months salary on the team's success.

Joan, Toni and Lynn set up dates with men they met over the Internet. Lynn's guy never shows up (his parole was denied), while Toni rejects hers because his skin is too dark. Although conspiracy theorist Maya warns that he will turn out to be a serial killer, Joan is pleased with her date, Marcus. Joan freaks out after discovering that Marcus wears a girdle because he has large hips, prompting Toni (who had taken heat from the girls over her treatment of her date) to take her to task for her behavior. Meanwhile, William also uses the Internet in an attempt to find love. He finally gets a date, but the woman seems to be completely crazy.

Samantha gets in a fight with Charlotte about her attitude toward sex.
