Def Comedy Jam is a HBO television series produced by Russell Simmons. The series had its original run from July 1, 1992 to January 1, 1997. The show returned on HBO's fall lineup in 2006. Def Comedy Jam helped to launch the careers of several African-American stand-up comedians.

Sponge gets blamed for all the calls. To try to make it up to him, Pinskey invites Sponge on a date with him and two girls from another camp.

Steve finds the perfect partner for the mixed doubles volleyball tournament. He is hurt when she rejects his romantic advances and pursues Brandon. Kelly and Dylan team up for the volleyball tournament, and also babysit Erin together. A visiting girl expresses an interest in David and his music. Kelly catches them making out, and tries to talk some sense into David. Kelly finds Dylan waiting in her cabin. In addition to the problem of having to appear in court to testify in broad daylight, Nick's desire to see justice done struggles with his conscience. He calls up memories of an incident from the past in which a woman lies in court, condemning to death a man Nick knows to be innocent, since he saw his fellow vampire Janette commit the crime.

Brenda and Donna have difficulty adjusting to life in France. Donna constantly complains about missing David, and Brenda soon begins to long for Dylan. They accidentally order brains at a restaurant, and Donna later spends an entire party eating pastries because she can't carry on a conversation in French. Andrea's boyfriend invites her to join him at the Republican Convention in Houston, where he is working for CNN. Brandon becomes jealous and kisses Andrea in an attempt to dissuade her from leaving. An outraged Andrea observes that Brandon is only interested in her because she has a boyfriend. Andrea decides to skip the convention because she is enjoying her work at the camp--especially with Cameron, a deaf boy whom she helped bring out of his shell. Jack goes up for parole, and asks Dylan to write a letter on his behalf. He reluctantly does this, but Jack's parole request is denied. Dylan and Kelly begin to flirt rather obviously.

Alison is befriended by a guy from the mail room, who quickly asks her out and reveals that his father is the vice president of a sunscreen company with which D&D is doing business. After failing miserably in his new job at a coffee shop, Jake agrees to help his ex-girlfriend Peri with the sale of a fraudulent painting. Matt questions Rhonda's character after she reneges on a promise to help with a dinner at the halfway house.

The Sloans refuse their son's last wish to have Gloria Davis, their black cook, sing at his funeral. Mike's Italian war bride, now a widow, confronts the girl he left behind.

It's backwards weekend, and the campers have elected Budnick to be the weekend counselor, while Ug had to be a camper. At first, Budnick lets the campers do whatever they want, but then is forced to punish them to restore order. This upsets the campers and they all, including Ug, pull pranks on him to get revenge. Meanwhile, Z.Z. and Dina are fighting over a frog that could win a jumping contest, and its owner a night in town.
