It's backwards weekend, and the campers have elected Budnick to be the weekend counselor, while Ug had to be a camper. At first, Budnick lets the campers do whatever they want, but then is forced to punish them to restore order. This upsets the campers and they all, including Ug, pull pranks on him to get revenge. Meanwhile, Z.Z. and Dina are fighting over a frog that could win a jumping contest, and its owner a night in town.

Dina is describing to the other girls what her perfect boyfriend would be like. She then realizes that Budnick matches all of her criteria, and she falls in love with him. Budnick, after resisting for a while, decides to return the feelings and falls in love with her.

An arrogant radio child psychologist is obsessed with proving to his manager that he is the best. He gets a new patient, a woman and her daughter. When he goes to her room, he assumes that the daughter is the woman's imaginary friend. He learns that her daughter died years ago but her mother's love keeps her alive.

Fred and Erma are workers at a squid cafe who find themselves in trouble because their business is failing and their landlord will kick them out. That is until one of the employees encourages them to serve meat. Suddenly business is getting better. Gaston decides to double cross Fred and Erma but he ends getting invited for dinner ... but not in the way he expects. Kelly bonds with her baby sister, Erin. She bows out of a six-week trip to study in Paris with Donna because she wants to spend time with her family. Brenda and Dylan clash over their new living arrangements. Cindy and Brandon realize that Brenda is unhappy, but she is too stubborn to give in. Jim threatens to freeze Dylan's account unless he helps convince Brenda to accept a trip to Paris. Dylan persuades Brenda to go because he believes it is a great opportunity for her. Jim makes amends with Brenda before she and Donna leave for Paris. Steve and Brandon get dates with visiting identical twins. Steve's date experiences a series of health problems (food poisoning, allergies), so he tries to dump her for her sister. The girls switch places to get revenge on him.

Jake fears that Kelly will be hurt if they continue their relationship and sets up a fake date with a friend to trick her into breaking up with him. Jane is depressed when Michael must work instead of spending a romantic evening with her. Billy completes his first screenplay, but Alison is decidedly less than impressed.

The girls decide that they want to be away from each other, so they ask Ug to change the bunk assignments. Meanwhile, the boys find a buffalo skull in a cave near camp. After they bring it back bad things start to happen and Ug orders them to bring good luck back to camp by returning the skull. Budnick decides to start a ""caveman club"" for the boys. The girls decide to steal the skull from them and get caught in the cave during a storm.

An insight into the history of nuclear power. In the 1950s scientists and politicians thought they could create a different world with a limitless source of nuclear energy. But things began to go wrong. Scientists in America and the Soviet Union were duped into building dozens of potentially dangerous plants. Then came the disasters of Three Mile Island and Chernobyl which changed views on the safety of this new technology. This episode was named after a 1953 General Electric propaganda film explaining nuclear power and features artfully chosen footage from this film.

Richard O'Brien stars in the final episode of the series as the charismatic Maze Master, leading a team of six adventurers (Catherine, Steve, Amanda, Christopher, Mike and Mary) around the eponymous Crystal Maze, in search of time crystals that will ultimately lead to the Crystal Dome and a chance of winning the star prize.

The home stretch. The guys arrive with the entertainment center, and meet up with architect Rick Bechtel, who is started his own firm. Tom Silva installs prefabricated cherry-veneer panelling in the library, while a mirror and glass shower doors go into the master bath. Sarai Stenquist works on Sarah Igoe's wallpaper, and Don Martini shows our host the security system.

Brenda drives her parents crazy with her constant sulking, and sneaks around with Dylan behind their backs. Dylan wants someone other than Jim to handle his trust, but Jim refuses to break his deal with Iris. Jim and Cindy join the beach club and catch Brenda making out with Dylan. Jim screams at Brenda and makes a scene. She packs up her belongings and moves in with Dylan. Brandon bets Steve that he cannot hold down a job for a week. Steve takes Brandon's position at the Peach Pit, as Brandon has left for his summer job at the club. Nat fires Steve because he is completely incompetent. Brandon is wary of Andrea's new job as a children's camp counselor at the beach club. However, she has gotten over her crush on him and is seeing a successful West Beverly alum. Billy gets a job as a cab driver and makes a connection with a passenger, who he begins dating. Alison is put off by the speed of the couple's courtship, and grows tired of their constant presence in the apartment. Jake is arrested following a scuffle at the unemployment office, and is less than grateful when Kelly bails him out. Jane worries about the status of her marriage when Michael is unable to recall the specific moment he fell in love with her.
