While watching the parade, Joey realizes that he forgot to show up for the Days of Our Lives cast float, and he asks Phoebe's help to come up with a believable lie. The dinner goes fairly well, however, Monica constantly obsesses about anybody damaging her best china. To make matters worse, Amy comes up with a crazy scenario involving Emma, which sparks a massive argument among the gang.

Catherine called in by a pornographic-film developer to view graphic footage from a snuff movie in which a woman is brutally slain. But the clues are scant: The murderer isn't clearly seen, the cheap-looking hotel room could be almost anywhere and the film was sent to the developer anonymously. Outside of town, Grissom investigates another killing when a body, smothered with fire ants, is found stuffed inside a large toolbox. The initial findings indicate that the person died well over a year earlier.

A defense attorney who had just acquitted a cop killer is gunned down outside a Manhattan restaurant. The detectives start with police officers in the precinct of the injured officer, then to his brother, before they are led to a white supremacist who is part of a national network. McCoy is faced with the unlikely prospect that the defendant's attorney, his friend of 20 years and a friend of the slain lawyer, played a part in the murder of a Florida district attorney following the defendant's arrest. McCoy is able to make a deal that perserves the integrity of his adversary, but not without a cost.

When NYPD Auxiliary Police Officer Heather Peterson is murdered, the detectives find a diary of her's that details the sexual habits of the police officers at the 15th precinct. These findings cause the detectives to suspect the officers of the 15th precinct had something to do with her death, and the investigation of the cops cause tension between the officers and the detectives.
