The program returned to American television over the NBC Sports Network on March 5, 2012 with previously aired repeats, with unaired episodes from season 7 airing for the first time beginning June 4, 2012. NBCSN schedules the show on weeknights at midnight, although the start time varies due to overruns by sporting events.

Inside is the naked body of Sofia Petrenko, a high-class prostitute, who has been strangled to death. The suitcase is traced to Vitali Malikov, a Ukrainian billionaire who admits to hiring Sofia's services, but he claims she was alive when she left him and that the case was a gift. D.C.S. Walker arrests Malikov on suspicion of murder, but later has to release him, and soon realises he has become a pawn in a much bigger game.

After designers are randomly paired the teams are asked to create an avant-garde outfit based on inspiration from their models' hairstyles. They have $300 and two days to create this look. Later, each team is asked to create a ready-to-wear outfit which embodies the essence of their avant-garde look. For the second piece, the designers have an additional $50.
