On 23 March 1994, Aeroflot Flight 593 is en route to Hong Kong, when it stalls and crashes, killing all 75 people on board. The pilot's 15-year-old son accidentally disabled the autopilot while in the captain's seat, causing the aircraft to bank heavily to the right, inducing the stall.

Later that night, Pam and Jim share their first unofficial date, complete with dinner (a sandwich), candlelight, and Dwight's pathetic fireworks display.

After fleeing the crash site, the man goes on a killing spree and abducts a college student. Mac Taylor arrives to help Horatio track the killer since Mac originally arrested the man in New York. The crossover concludes on CSI: New York S02E07 Manhattan Manhunt (II).
